It was gold and silver to Yamba SLSC Boaties after the final rounds of the Far North Coast Boat Series were held at Coffs Harbour on Saturday. Congratulations to the Over 160 Years Masters crew of Chris Bonner, Wayne Ringland, Rod McSkimming, Scott Greensill and sweep Ray Wiblen who finished the series in 1st place and the Open Women’s Crew of Leah Essex, Jo King, Angela Eke, Cassie Maria, Hannah Smith and sweep Rod McSkimming who finished the series in 2nd place.

Once again conditions turned bad for the NSW State Age Championships held in Umina on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with dangerous surf conditions making it tough for competitors, water safety and officials. Well done to Kalani Ives, Yasmin, Malik and Jorden Elabbasi who competed in such tough conditions, making it out of the heats in their water events. Congratulations to Kalani for placing sixth in the final of the U10’s female board race.

Yamba Nippers will be hosting a “Life Saving Extravaganza” and Open Day this Sunday from 10am. The morning will showcase the life saving skills Yamba Nippers have mastered this season. If you have ever wondered what Nippers is all about, come down and watch the demonstrations and join in fun.

Georgia Salvestro 2Congratulations to the “Nipper of the Week” U11’s Georgia Salvestro, Georgia is the quiet achiever of her age group, always smiling and showing great sportsmanship. Enjoy using your Sassafras Pasta and Pizza Restaurant voucher Georgia.

The Yamba SLSC 2015 club championships will be held this Sunday, starting after the completion of nippers activities. All competitors need to report to Jim Dougherty at 11am. The order of events is surf race, board race, ski race, iron man, beach sprint, beach flags, finishing with the traditional snake race. All senior members are welcome to compete, and spectators are encouraged to come down and enjoy an entertaining morning of competition.

Yamba SLSC meat raffles are on every Saturday evening at the Yamba Golf and Country Club. Bob Darby, Greg Zietsch, Jo and Grant Bennett and Rick Harris will be selling tickets from 5:30pm with the draw staring at 6:30pm. With 33 meat trays up for grabs, come along and try you luck!
