Weekly News Bulletin – 8 September 2014

Thanks to all those Yamba Surf Club members who helped in various ways with water safety, first aid and BBQ duties during the running of the Yamba triathlon last weekend.   A special ‘well done’ to those members involved in the care of the competitor who collapsed while getting out of the water at the end of the Enticer Triathlon. The lifesaving skills of our members greatly assisted the lady prior to her transportation to hospital by ambulance. It is these incidents that highlight the important role that Yamba Surf Club undertakes in the training of our members in life saving skills.

The first Proficiency Test for this season will be held at Yamba Surf Club this Sunday. This is for all patrol members, senior competitors and nipper water safety officers. Proficiencies to be checked include Bronze Medallion, Surf Rescue Certificate, Advanced Resuscitation and IRB drivers and crew. Proficiency testing will commence at 8.30am in the upstairs area of the clubhouse and should be completed by 11.30 am. This will be followed by a club BBQ for members. All members undertaking Proficiencies must have completed membership forms and paid the relevant fees.

A Nipper information and registration session will be held this Sunday 14th September 11am-1pm at Yamba Surf Club. Other sign registration sessions will be held on Wednesday 17th September 3-4pm in the Yamba Public School Hall and Sunday 21st September 10am-12pm at Yamba Surf Club. Nipper proficiency tests will be held at Yamba Community Pool on Saturday 27 September 2-5pm and Sunday 28 September 9:30-11:30am. All nippers are required to attend one of these proficiency sessions. Nippers will commence 9:30am Sunday 5 October at Yamba Main Beach.
