Patrols were kept busy over the weekend with strong sweeps and moving rips causing problems for many swimmers. Well done to our volunteer patrol members for their diligence over the weekend and the Support Jet Ski Team for their assistance.

Nippers recommences this Sunday, 11 January at 9:30am at Main Beach. Under 9’s are on set up and BBQ duty, could you please be at the beach at 9am.  There were plenty of starters for the Carl Schaffer Handicap Swim on New Year’s Day. First place went to Liam Dougherty, off 90 seconds, with Hamish Horne, off 110 seconds, placing second and Jess Humphries, off 90 seconds, taking third place. The regular Sunday swim saw Todd Ives, off 150 seconds take out first place, with Michael Tillman, off 80 seconds, crossing the line second and Brendan Wall, off 200 seconds, third. This popular surf swim is held every Sunday morning with registrations at 11am and the swim starting at 11:30am.

For a bit of holiday fun, Yamba Rotary will be holding its annual fun day at Yamba’s Main Beach on Sunday 18 January from 11 am.  The Gallipoli 100 team are hosting a barefoot bowls day at Yamba Bowling Club on Sunday 25 January 2-4:30 pm. Entry fee is $15 per person and includes a cold drink and sausage sandwich. Great prizes up for grabs, including prizes for the best dressed team, so get your team of 4 bowlers organised!   Yamba SLSC meat raffles are on every Saturday evening at the Yamba Golf and Country Club.  Bob Darby, Greg Zietsch, Jo & Grant Bennett and Rick Harris will be selling tickets from 5:30pm with the draw staring at 6:30pm. With 33 meat trays up for grabs, come along and try you luck!
