There was a great turnout for the Yamba SLSC Annual General Meeting on Sunday. A highlight of the meeting was the recognition of services by some long term club members. Kim Morgans was awarded Life Membership. Kim has been a patrol member with Yamba SLSC since 1978 and has been involved with training and education for much of that time. Life Members Jim Saunders was presented with his 60 years of service pin and Don Lee was presented with a plaque, to acknowledge the 50 years of service he has given to training and assessing Yamba SLSC members. Congratulations Kim, Jim and Don, very well deserved awards.

Congratulations to Joe Dougherty who was elected Club President. Joe is the third generation to hold this position, with his father, Jim Dougherty and grandfather, Bill Dougherty being past Yamba SLSC Club Presidents. The 2015-16 Board of Directors are: Vice President- Alan Schofield, Secretary- Leah Essex, Treasurer- Tim Small, Education and Training- Kim Morgans, Club Captain- James Ryan, Director of Surf Sports- Jim Dougherty, Clubhouse Director- Brian Badgery and Nipper Coordinator- Kerry Lee. Thank you to all members who filled the many subcommittee positions.

An Advanced Resuscitation Techniques Certificate is being held in Yamba on Sunday the 30th August, please enrol by 21st August. Courses are free to all club members.

Yamba SLSC meat raffles are on every Saturday evening at the Yamba Golf and Country Club. Greg Wylie, Mark Gillespie, James Ryan and Mitch Imeson will be selling tickets from 5.30pm with the draw starting at 6.30pm. With 33 fantastic meat trays to be won, go along and try your luck!

Nipper Coordinator Kerry Lee is busy planning the upcoming Nipper season, and once dates have been confirmed, sign on days will be advertised the local papers, school newsletters and the Yamba Nippers Facebook page. As a general rule, Nippers runs from October until March on Sunday mornings at Main Beach. Children must be 5 to join nippers.

Yamba SLSC bar is open every Sunday afternoon from 3pm to 6pm. Great views, cold drinks and a friendly atmosphere, why not pop down with some friends for a relaxing afternoon.

Yamba SLSC Office hours have changed to Monday and Tuesday 9- 12 noon and Friday 2pm-5pm.
