Yamba SLSC would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday period, and remind all beach goers to swim at patrolled beaches between the red and yellow flags. If we can’t see you we can’t save you!

Yamba SLSC will be hosting the Yamba Ocean Swims this Sunday 28th December with the 700 metre swim commencing at 10am, the 2km swim at 11am, and the dash for cash at midday. Electronic entries are open and can be completed at www.oceanswims.com up until Friday 26th December. Entries can be made in person on Saturday 27th between 2pm and 4pm upstairs in the Clubhouse. Late entries will be taken on Sunday morning between 8am and 9am, but will incur a late payment fee of $10.

Plenty of holiday makers joined in The Carl Schaffer Handicap Swim on Sunday morning with 35 swimmers at the starting line. First to cross the finish line was Hamish Horne off 80 seconds, with Jim Ridgway, off 40 seconds, a close second and back maker Jacqui Schafer, off 180 seconds, third. The swim is on every Sunday morning, and on Boxing Day and New Years Day over the holiday period, with registrations taking place at the front of the clubhouse from 11am and the race beginning at 11:30am.

Nippers intending to compete at Country Titles at Mollymook in January need to have their nomination forms returned to Kerry Lee by Sunday 28 December. Nippers will resume on Sunday 11 January at Main Beach at 9:30am.

Yamba SLSC meat raffles are on every Saturday evening at the Yamba Golf and Country Club. Nicole & Greg Don and Trish & Kerry Pidcock will be selling tickets from 5:30pm with the draw staring at 6:30pm. With 33 meat trays up for grabs, come along and try your luck!
