Congratulations to the 11 Yamba SLSC members who competed in the 2015 Country Championships on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Mollymook. Jim Dougherty, Todd Ives, Will Pitkin, Kalani Ives, Yasmin, Malik and Jorden Elabbasi, Ava and Lilli Young, Harry Whitehouse and Gracie Pitkin’s collective efforts saw Yamba placed 18th in the final tally with a total of 4 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.

The Carl Schaffer Handicap Swim attracted a field of 30 swimmers on Sunday. First place was Belinda Bock, off 71 seconds, which will see her handicap rise to 100 seconds. Chris Dougherty, off 80 seconds was second and Carissa Miltiadou, off go, was third.  This popular surf swim is held every Sunday morning and on Australia Day with registrations at 11am and the swim starting at 11:30am.

The Gallipoli 100 team are hosting a barefoot bowls day at Yamba Bowling Club on Sunday 25 January 2-4:30pm. Entry fee is $15 per person and includes a cold drink and sausage sandwich. Great prizes up for grabs, including prizes for the best dressed team, so get your team of 4 bowlers organised!

The surf conditions were perfect on Sunday morning, and all the Nippers enjoyed a morning of water activities. Congratulations to Ben Strain from our U7’s who received our Nipper of the week Award. Ben is always a cheerful participant and tries his best in all activities. Ben is pictured with brothers Jeremy (left) and Campbell (right).  Thank you to Sassafras Pasta & Pizza for their support and donating a $10 voucher every week.

U7 parents it is your turn for set up, pack up, could you please be at the beach by 9am. Your assistance is appreciated.

Jim Dougherty has been holding board and surf swimming training on Saturday mornings at 8am at Main Beach for U9’s-14’s. Please let Kerry Lee know each week if your child will be attending so compulsory water safety requirements can be met.

Yamba SLSC meat raffles are on every Saturday evening at the Yamba Golf and Country Club. Greg Wyllie, James Ryan, Mark Gillespie and Mitch Imeson will be selling tickets from 5:30pm with the draw staring at 6:30pm. With 33 meat trays up for grabs, come along and try you luck!
