Well done to Yamba SLSC’s newest Bronze Medallion holders. Molly Sanders, Belinda Bock, Jill Ennever, Will Pitkin, Mitch Johns, Todd Ives and Jack Leonard faced some very tough conditions and all their training was put to the test during their proficiency assessment on Saturday morning. Congratulation, we look forward to seeing you on patrol!

All club members and their families are invited to come down to the clubhouse on Sunday afternoon between 4-6pm to enjoy a Christmas drink.

Only a small group of 14 swimmers took on the tough conditions in Sundays Carl Schaffer Handicap Swim. Todd Ives, off 120 seconds, was first across the line, second was Andrew Law, off 100 seconds and third place went to Peter Dawson off 110 seconds. This popular swim is on every Sunday morning with registrations taking place at the front of the clubhouse and the race beginning at 11:30am.

Rough conditions saw the 5th round of the Far North Coast Boat Series on Saturday move from Pacific Palms Beach to the nearby lake. Yamba SLSC Open Women’s crew rowed very strongly to secure first place in the final. Unfortunately racing was cancelled on Sunday and round 6 will be held over until next year.

The Yamba Ocean Swims will be held on Sunday 28th December with the 700 metre swim commencing at 10am, the 2km swim at 11am, and the dash for cash at midday. Electronic entries are now being taken at www.oceanswims.com  This is the clubs biggest fundraising event of the year and all members are asked to make themselves available to help on the day.

The first half of the Nippers season finished wrapped up on Sunday. Parents can enjoy a few Sunday morning sleep-ins as Nippers now breaks for three weeks and will resume on Sunday 11th January. Club Championships had to be cancelled due to uneasy surf conditions and will be postponed until the New Year. Nippers had a great time participating in fun activities and role playing on the sand and in the pool. Everyone was in high spirits and the kids were delighted to have a surprise visit from Santa. Nippers of all ages lined up to meet him and Santa gifted them all some yummy chocolates. Children had their photo taken with Santa and if you have not already done so please like our Yamba Nippers Facebook page to view them.Logan MiltiadouJorja White

Nomination forms for Country Titles at Mollymook in January need to be returned to Kerry Lee by the 28th of December.

We hope that all Nippers have enjoyed themselves and gained confidence with their lifesaving skills thus far this season. It’s great to see the development and achievements of the Nippers kids grow as the season progresses. Yamba Nippers wish all families a safe and merry Christmas.

Yamba SLSC meat raffles are on every Saturday evening at the Yamba Golf and Country Club. Anne & Brian Jones and Bill Onslow will be selling tickets from 5:30pm with the draw staring at 6:30pm. With 33 meat trays up for grabs, come along and try you luck!
